IT WAS AN EVENING TO REMEMBER!
On Saturday October 27, 2007 at the McPherson Playhouse over 200 people gathered to hear a rousing opening performance by Victoria's own SOAPBOX POETS & ODDITORY PRESENCE, followed by a Keynote Speech from SAMIA HALABY based on the question "By addressing social justice, can art shape history?". After Samia's remarks, a panel of three B.C. artists - PETER CAMPBELL, CHERYL L'HIRONDELLE, CHRIS CREIGHTON-KELLY - joined a lively and sometimes provocative discussion moderated by HAL WAKE.
The discussion continued with the audience in the theatre, in the lobby and llater in the Collard Room at Swans Hotel. It was by all accounts a stimulating, challenging and occasionally exhilarating evening!
